INFECTIOUS CORYZA(IC)
Infectious Coryza, It is a dangerous disease caused by bacteria and sadly, late detection of it can make vaccine non-effective in the healing process. The main symptoms are easily noticeable.
Birds' heads become swollen until their eyes are almost shut closed. Adult female birds stop laying eggs, and you can notice a kind of discharge flowing from their eyes and nose. The moisture also appears under their wings.
The only way to protect your flock is to prevent any contacts of your poultry birds with other animals. Keeping their water and area clean will reduce the risk of infestation.
Or Infectious coryza can also be a disease caused by a virus.
The disease affects most poultry species including layers.
Layers must be vaccinated either Synthetic or organic against Infectious Coryza at 6 weeks of age and at 14 weeks or before they start laying eggs.
If not vaccinated, layers show the following
signs;
A ) Watery discharge from eyes
B ) White thick smelly stuff in the eye
C ) Eye Blindness
D ) Mishaped eggs with thin shells
E ) Low egg production
NOTE: It is not advisable to vaccinate birds, when they are already laying because eggs laid are not recommended for human consumption, for a minimum period of eleven (11) days, it has health effects to the consumer. Except you are placing them on Organic treatment.
INFECTIOUS CORYZA is the disease of most of all types poultry birds, It is a disease that had low mortality but higher economic impact.
As a infected female bird will stop laying egg and meat
birds will have stunted growth.
SYMPTOMS.
Bad smell of nostril and thick eye discharge.
Crusty eye.
Swollen face.
Rales- labored breathing.
PREVENTION.
Vaccinate the birds with coryza-vac. Administer Super Gro after 7 days of vaccination.
TREATMENT. Administer any chlorotetraxyxline drugs.
Organically, use garlic, ginger and turmeric once in a week.
